| UNIVERSITY of ORANGE is a Free People's UNIVERSITY located in Orange NJ and on the web. The city's history is our TEXTBOOK and civic participation is our COURSEWORK. You can GRADUATE to more responsibility in just one year. We offer a greater DEGREE of freedom and our collaborative learning will ensure a bright future for Orange as THE URBAN VILLAGE of the 21st century. The story of Orange is the story of many American cities: settled by Indians, sold to Europeans in 1666, developed into a center of manufacturing after the Civil War, deindustrialized after World War II, split by a highway, and kept alive by citizens trained to struggle for responsive government. Everyone can be a student and everyone can be a teacher. We are creating this wiki to collect the history, ecology, events and hopes of the city. Share what you know and learn from others. School opens September 2009 and we will hold our second graduation in June 2010. We do accept your life credits and the knowledge you've gained from hard knocks.
