A  Free University.  A  University  of The People.
2009 Graduation Ceremony
Sunday,  June 21, 2009
To Graduate from the University of Orange, all students must complete the following six requirements:

  • Vote ( for anything you are eligible to vote in: student council, school board, local/state/federal
election, U of O President, Battle of the Benches, etc)
  • Volunteer
  • Attend a city meeting (in Orange or the city where you live)
  • Have fun with your neighbor
  • Take 2 UofO courses of your choice

Because we teach that we must practice good citizenship every year, we encourage our students to
graduate every year
at our Juneteenth Graduation (June 19th or thereabouts).

U of O also recognizes that some citizens may go above and beyond the basic requirements by
completing major projects or doing significant work in their community to help otheres.  In these
cases, students may apply or be nominated for our
advanced degrees, the M Free and the Free D.

In addition, we celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding citizens by awarding them honorary
doctorates.  To date, the University of Orange has awarded honorary doctorates to: Councilman Ben
Jones, Ms. Maggie Thompson, Ms.Mary White, Ms. Ruth Tanaka, Dr. Charles Steiner
, and
Ms. Willa Cofield.
