Because we teach that we must practice good citizenship every year, we encourage our students to graduate every year at our Juneteenth Graduation (June 19th or thereabouts).
U of O also recognizes that some citizens may go above and beyond the basic requirements by completing major projects or doing significant work in their community to help otheres. In these cases, students may apply or be nominated for our advanced degrees, the M Free and the Free D.
In addition, we celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding citizens by awarding them honorary doctorates. To date, the University of Orange has awarded honorary doctorates to: Councilman Ben Jones, Ms. Maggie Thompson, Ms.Mary White, Ms. Ruth Tanaka, Dr. Charles Steiner, and Ms. Willa Cofield.
